A subdomain is a part of a web address which is under the main domain name, for example name.example.com. Technically, even in www.example.com the "www" part is a subdomain given that the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Every subdomain could have its own web site and records and can even be hosted with a different provider if you wish to use a specific feature which is not offered by your current provider. An illustration for using a subdomain is if you have a business website along with an online store under a subdomain where customers can acquire your products. You can also have a forum in which they can discuss the products and by using subdomains as an alternative to subfolders you are going to avoid any chance of all websites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping the sites separated is less risky in case of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Shared Website Hosting

Each shared website hosting plan that we provide will permit you to create numerous subdomains with no more than a couple of mouse clicks in your hosting CP. They will all be listed in the area where you create them and arranged under the main domain for more convenience, so that you can easily monitor every one of them. In addition, you can access a lot of functions for any one of the subdomains through right-click context menus - as an example, you can view or edit their DNS records, access the site files, and more. While setting up a new subdomain, you will also have a number of options that you can choose from - determine the default access folder, create customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or select if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. The amount of subdomains you are going to have is 100 % up to you since we have not restricted this feature for any one of our plans.
